A new eco-friendly natural super absorbent that confidently stands up to chemicals
The world's first natural super absorbent has solved the low absorption power and harmful effect of existing chemical absorbents.
EcoSAP is the unique name that represents “eco-friendly natural super absorbent” in response to the “Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP)”, a widely used chemical absorbent. SAP, a petrochemical polymer compound, is widely used for sanitary pads, diapers, food pads, and pee pads for pet. This causes significant social and environmental problems, including carcinogens that are harmful to the human body. EcoSAP is applicable to all products where chemical SAP is used.
Features
In general, materials such as pulp and cotton used in sanitary pads/diapers, etc. have only 10 to 20% of absorption rate compared to chemical SAP, which has increased consumer complaints about absorbency. However, our products have an absorption rate of 85-110% of chemical SAP. It has the best absorption ability among natural absorbents. In addition, as “eco-friendly” and “natural” products, it is biodegradable and can fundamentally solve environmental problems caused by disposal after use.
Cellulose (β-glucose) has a long linear chain structure and is hydrophilic, but is insoluble in water because it is hydrogen bonded to other adjacent linear chains. When treated using a designed method to dissociate the hydrogen bonds between molecules, it swells in water and shows strong viscous properties. Refined cellulose can absorb a large amount of water, but it absorbs water quickly and causes gel blocking which can no longer be able to absorb water. To avoid this phenomenon, if it is copolymerized with starch (α-glucose), it will have a three-dimensional network structure, and gel blocking will not occur. EcoSAP, nanosized(50~70nm) during the copolymerization process, can absorb a greater amount of water due to an increase in specific surface area.
